The group stage of the Wild Rift Icons Global Championship concluded on Saturday (26 June), with the eight remaining teams advancing to the Knockout Stage.

Three out of the four representatives for Southeast Asia — Vietnam's Team Flash, the Philippines' Rex Regum Qeon (RRQ), and Taiwan's Flash Wolves — qualified for the Knockout Stage.

The region's fourth team, Buriram United Esports (BRU), unfortunately failed to make it out of the Group Stage.

The three remaining Southeast Asian teams will join South Korea's KT Rolster as well as Chinese teams FunPlus Phoenix (FPX), JD Gaming (JDG), Nova Esports, and J Team in the Knockout Stage.

Here's how the Wild Rift Icons Group Stage went down:

The opening match of Group A was between SEA's first seed Team Flash, who swept Korea's second seed T1.

This was followed by China representative Nova Esports sweeping Wild Rift Latino America Open (WLO) first seed Leviatán.

In the Winners’ Match, the Chinese team proved to be the strongest, sweeping Team Flash 2-0 to secure their place in the Knockout stage.

T1 then swept Leviatán 2-0 in the Elimination Match, which allowed them to move forward to the Decider Match against Team Flash.

However, the Vietnamese squad once again dominated the series, allowing Team Flash to secure the second Knockouts slot for Group A with a 2-0 victory.

Group B: J Team and RRQ

Filipino team RRQ swept Sengoku Gaming from the Wild Rift Japan League (WJL) in the Opening Match of Group B.

Meanwhile, China's J Team dominated the series against Wild Rift Europe Champions first seed Team Queso.

RRQ then took a game off J Team in the Winners’ Match, but the latter still won the series 2-1 to become the first team in Group B to make it to the Knockouts.

Sengoku Gaming and Team Queso then went head-to-head in the Elimination Match, where the Japanese team took the series 2-1 to earn a rematch with RRQ for a spot in the Knockout Stage.

RRQ once again emerged victorious over their Japanese opponents, sweeping the series 2-0 to secure the second Knockout slot for Group B.

Group C was named as Icons' "Group of Death".

It included two teams who were the first seeds of very strong regions in FPX and Omegha Esports as well as two Southeast Asian teams in Flash Wolves and BRU.

The action in Group C began with tournament favourites FPX taking a statement 2-0 win against Flash Wolves.

This was followed by a tense match between BRU and Wild Tour Brasil (WTB) first seed Omegha Esports, with the latter emerging victorious in a 2-0 sweep.

Omegha Esports brought their A-game against the Chinese juggernauts but their efforts were not enough, as FPX swept the series 2-0 to bag the first Knockouts slot for Group C.

In the group's elimination match, Flash Wolves and BRU had to face each other in a best-of-three, where the Taiwanese team eliminated their Thai opponents after a 2-1 series victory.

Group C's Decider Match between Omegha Esports and Flash Wolves was a tense one, with the heated series going to a deciding third game.

But in the end, Flash Wolves triumphed and claimed the second Knockouts slot for Group C.

The Opening Match for Group D began with a full three-game series between Brazilian team Liberty Esports and South Korean first seed KT Rolster, which ended with the latter winning 2-1.

This was followed by the Chinese team JDG sweeping North American first seed Immortals 2-0.

In the Winners’ Match, KT Rolster fell to JDG, who won the series 2-1 to claim the first Knockouts slot for Group D.

Meanwhile, the Elimination Match between Immortals and Liberty Esports ended in a 2-1 victory for the North Americans.

The ensuing Decider Match between Immortals and KT Rolster was another close affair. Despite strong starts by the North Americans in both games, KT Rolster emerged victorious and took the series in a 2-0 sweep.

The Wild Rift Icons Knockout Stage will follow a single-elimination format. The quarterfinals and semifinals will feature best-of-five matches while the grand finals will be a full best-of-seven series.

The Knockout Stage quarterfinals matchups are as follows:

  • Nova Esports vs KT Rolster
