Jerome Yenson, one of the promising athletes in Philippine baseball, has passed away on Friday (24 September). He was only 24 years old.

The Talavera, Nueva Ecija native was a product of Adamson University, where he established himself as one of the brightest young stars in the local baseball scene.

Adamson University Alumni Sports Executive Group confirmed Yenson's demise through a post on its Facebook. A few other posts on Facebook reported that his death is not COVID-19 related.

Yenson's most memorable stint came in the 80th Season of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) in 2018, as he helped end the school's eight-year championship drought while emerging as the Best Pitcher and Finals Most Valuable Player.

He would then represent the Philippines as part of the national baseball team that captured a gold medal in the 30th Southeast Asian Games in 2019.
