League of Legends: Wild Rift is introducing a new solo-only, point-based queue for players ranked Legendary above in a few weeks.

After a couple of changes to the matchmaking and Ranked gaming experience in February, the devs mentioned that they were considering a split queue, and now they seem to be ready to deliver that.

The Legendary queue is confirmed to be 'solo queue only', and players who achieve Diamond rank or above in the existing ranked system are qualified to play.

There will be six new major ranks and four sub-tiers for each rank in this new queue.

Players will need to earn enough Legendary Points to reach each new milestone under the current ranking system, just as they did with the previous ranking system for Diamond+.

You can only get Legendary Points if you and your team win, and the number of points you get will depend on your skill and the skill of your opponents.

Here are the Legendary Ranks:

  • Warrior IV-I

  • Commander IV-I

  • Guardian IV-I

  • Vanquisher IV-I

  • Immortal IV-I

  • Legend

A special global ranking will be awarded together with those other players who were able to gain Legend status.

Players will also have a different matchmaking rating (MMR) in the Legendary queue, on top of the new ranks. In other words, your rank and MMR won't affect how you perform in the new queue.

Additionally, the matchmaking will be tweaked to include only teammates that are at least one rank tier lower than the player.

A few adjustments to the current Ranked queue are also due in the incoming patch, “to provide players with diverse competitive goals.” (Photo: Riot Games)

From now on, ranking marks will go all the way up to Challenger, rather than stopping at Emerald.

Once players reach Diamond, they will no longer get or lose Victory Points (VP) based on victories or losses, but rather a ranked mark for each win and a ranked mark for each defeat, exactly like in Emerald and below. Diamond IV to Diamond I and onwards into Masters need six marks for each tier of Diamond.

For those in the Masters and above divisions, you'll be awarded points based on your wins and losses.

To keep this number growing, players need to keep winning more games than losing them.

There will be no changes to Grandmaster or Challenger other than changing the VP to marks.

To be promoted to Grandmaster, players will need at least 20 points, and to be promoted to Challenger, they will need at least 40 points and to meet the rank requirements.
