Jeff Chan passed away from cancer

17 May – Former TVB actor Jeff Chan has recently passed away after nearly a year of battling cancer.

As reported on Mingpao, the news was revealed through his Facebook page on 15 May, which read, "Thank you for your love. Jeff, accompanied by his relatives this (yesterday) morning, has temporarily said goodbye to return to Heaven. Jeff is a gentle warrior. He is brave and persevering. He fought until the end."

"He once said: "I am so lucky to have many friends around me fighting with me. Whether I win or not, I hope to enrich everyone with my strength!" Now he is no longer suffering. Thank you again for your continued support and encouragement! His love and spirit will always be in our hearts! In addition, I hope that friends in the media will give Jeff's family a little space during this time."

Graduated from the 20th batch of the TVB training class, Jeff had filmed TV series for many years before moving to HKTV and subsequently to the mainland to make online movies.

He was preparing to direct his own movie in June last year when he was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer after experiencing back pain. Jeff turned to the public to ask for help for the costs of the medical treatment, and admitted that he was puzzled over his condition seeing that he has led a healthy life.

Although his condition was stabilised for a while, the cancer spread to his other organs early this year.

He was 38.
