Pride Month is here and League of Legends (LoL) has prepared a lot of freebies and surprises for its player community to celebrate this year.

As part of the Pride Month celebration across all Riot Games titles, LoL players who participate in the event will be rewarded with three new emotes "alluding to love".

Emotes may be obtained either by playing a single game in a group or by accumulating enough mission points during gameplay until the end of June. But the highlight of this year's celebration is the love story between another couple in the game.

This year, the LGBTQIA+ community rejoice as another rainbow-coloured ship has sailed once again in the Graves and Twisted Fate coupling.

For years, some fans have been commenting that Twisted Fate and Graves have been bickering like an old married couple. Many have wondered if there’s something more to their love-hate friendship.

Twisted Fate and Graves first met in a Gambling Hall, back when the former still called himself Tobias. There they hit it off, recognizing a kindred soul in one another, becoming partners in crime and roommates for many years.

However, one of their heists failed terribly, causing Tobias to leave Graves behind. Despite the former's attempts to save him, Graves was sent to The Locker, a prison and torture chamber located in Zaun.

Graves was tortured and imprisoned for years. During that time, he began to harbour a deep resentment toward his former partner, believing Tobias had betrayed him.

Meanwhile, Tobias continued to go on heists solo and began donning his new name “Twisted Fate".

After a decade, the former partners in crime were accidentally reunited in a setup by Miss Fortune.

While they were forced to put their differences aside in order to survive, Graves understandably did not fully trust Twisted Fate right away.

Many fans speculated that both were romantically linked, especially since the Burning Tides event. In the story Destiny and Fate, Riot also seems to have dropped a few hints and there about their relationship.

And indeed, the relationship between Twisted Fate and Graves was confirmed by Riot in a short story titled The Boys and Bombolini.

The story detailed how the relationship of the pair somewhat developed, and even revealed the many... well, misadventures of Graves in the love department.

This is Riot Games' fifth year hosting a Pride-themed event across its games.

Since the Rainbow Fluft Icon was introduced in 2018, the event has grown into something far larger, with free content being given to LoL, Teamfight Tactics, Legends of Runeterra, and LoL: Wild Rift last year.

LoL also featured the love story between Leona and Diana, after so many fans from the Pride community have shipped the two.

On top of that, Riot released Pride-themed merchandise to raise money for the It Gets Money Project. Similar events have not yet been announced by the company.
